Video #2

Today I watched video about meerkats from Kalahari desert. A scientist Martha Manser, a meerkat specialist, was doing tests about how do meerkats „talk” with each other. She made a study about what noises do they make depending on what predator they see and how close the predator is. She was using stuffed jackals and caracals on wheel carts to see how those little mammal will act. She even launched jackal into the air. The scores of her study showed that meerkats indeed have different calls. There are animal moving calls, low urgency calls and high urgency calls. The most surprising thing was that the last stage of alarming is barking!
